Nick Saban comments on Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. being his first Alabama legacy player

Dre Kirkpatrick officially became the first Nick Saban-era Alabama legacy player when he signed with the Crimson Tide on Wednesday.

Kirkpatrick is considered a 2024 three-star recruit out of Gadsden City High School, and he is currently participating in Rose Bowl prep with the Crimson Tide. The Alabama legacy is one of the 23 prospects, who signed with Alabama on National Signing Day.

Nick Saban was asked about Kirkpatrick during his Wednesday press conference.

“I think that’s the first legacy for Alabama, not necessarily the first legacy for me,” Saban said. “I coached Mark Ingram’s dad at Michigan State but the first generational legacy player that played for us at Alabama and now has a son playing here. I think it’s great. His dad’s been a really good ambassador for the program, was a great player here, had a great NFL career, so you really appreciate that part of it. I know how proud he is of his son and what his son has been able to accomplish and his son to have an opportunity to come to Alabama.”

Kirkpatrick Jr. will look to make his own way in Tuscaloosa in the future.
