Former Alabama linebacker Rashaan Evans’ time with the Dallas Cowboys came to an end on Wednesday as the team announced that it had waived him.
The news came shortly after Evans was arrested for possession of marijuana on Tuesday with the team waiving him the following day to clear an active roster spot for offensive tackle Matt Waletzko.
Evans signed to the Cowboys’ practice squad back in October after starting middle linebacker Leighton Vander Esch was lost for the season with a neck injury. He would appear in nine games for the Cowboys earning one start, but mostly fulfilling his duties on special teams as he ended his stint with nine total tackles.
Evans originally entered the NFL back in the 2018 NFL Draft where he was the No. 22 overall pick by the Tennessee Titans where he would play the first four seasons of his career. He would later sign with the Atlanta Falcons in 2022 where he appeared in all 17 games recording a career-best 159 total tackles which was tied for seventh most in the NFL.
