Kevin Steele gave major props to Nick Saban during his media availability for the Rose Bowl on Friday.
Steels is in his first year as Alabama’s defensive coordinator in his latest stint in Tuscaloosa. He has coached under Saban in the past, and he has known the Alabama head coach since ‘1985.’ His familiarity with Saban led to him being asked about how he has changed over the years.
The question led to Steele revealing where he feels Saban shines the most as a defensive mind.
“He’s the best that’s ever done it at taking and adjusting defenses,” Steele said. “He’s very, very good at it. I don’t think it’s so much that he’s changed. Obviously, there are probably some little nuances in terms of the way he manages the team, but he’s always managed every team different. He always says…every team’s different. He’s really good at adjusting to that. Always has been. I personally think he’s the best it’s ever been at game planning and taking away what people do best.”
Saban and Steele will look to take away Michigan’s offensive strengths in the Rose Bowl.
