A new name for Alabama football is expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal soon.

According to Nick Kelly of the Tuscaloosa News, Seth McLaughlin is meeting with Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban before putting his name into portal. McLaughlin, a native of Buford, Ga., was Alabama’s starting center for 2023.

He helped the Tide achieve a Southeastern Conference Championship and make the College Football Playoff, but he had snapping issues all season.

McLaughlin, a senior, had a difficult Rose Bowl performance. He had several bad snaps that played a role in Alabama losing to Michigan in overtime at the Rose Bowl. McLaughlin has his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Alabama.

He has three SEC Championship rings (2020-21, 2023) and a CFP National Championship ring in 2020.

We will see where he ends up going, but McLaughlin is expected to enter the portal.
