He took the Houston Texans to an AFC South Division title in its 23-19 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Houston improved to 10-7, clinching a spot in the AFC playoffs. Ryans, a native of Bessemer, Ala., got the job done as a rookie head coach. He was a decorative linebacker for Alabama from 2002 to 2005, earning SEC Defensive Player of the Year, first-team All-SEC, and Unanimous All-American honors in 2005. Ryans became an impactful NFL player with the Texans and Philadelphia Eagles before starting his coaching career. He came through the defensive ranks for the San Francisco 49ers, and now he’s reaping incredible rewards as a head coach. Alabama fans showered him with praises on social media for his latest accomplishment.
