Alabama great Antonio Langham selected to College Football Hall of Fame

Former Alabama defensive back Antonio Langham was selected as part of the 2024 College Football Hall of Fame class, the National Football Foundation announced Monday afternoon.

A two-time All-American at cornerback, Langham is one of 19 players and three coaches that are included on the 2024 list of inductees. He is the 23rd player in Alabama history to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Cornerback (1990-93)

  • A native of Town Creek, Ala., Langham was a productive corner for the Crimson Tide from 1990-93
  • Finished his four-year career at the Capstone with 141 tackles and a program-high 19 interceptions
  • Helped Alabama to 40 wins over four seasons, including two SEC Western Division Championships, one SEC Championship and one national title
  • Named the inaugural SEC Championship Most Valuable Player in 1992
  • Became UA’s first winner of the Thorpe Award in 1993, an honor that goes to the nation’s top defensive back
  • Selected as a first team All-American in 1992 and 1993 while earning unanimous honors during the ’93 campaign
  • Garnered first team All-SEC accolades in 1992 and 1993 to go with second-team recognition as a sophomore in 1991
  • Went on to play seven years in the National Football League after being selected in the first round (ninth overall) by the Cleveland Browns in the 1994 NFL Draft
  • Tabbed to the 1994 NFL All-Rookie Team after starting all 16 games for the Browns and totaling 61 tackles, a forced fumble, one fumble recovery and two interceptions in his first season
  • Elected to the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2019

 

The 2024 class will be officially inducted during the 66th NFF Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 10, 2024 in Las Vegas. The inductees will also be recognized at their respective collegiate institutions with NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salutes during the fall. Their accomplishments will forever be immortalized at the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
