He had a good enough skill set to take Alabama football to a Southeastern Conference Championship and College Football Playoff, but Jalen Milroe be even better under the new era of Crimson Tide football?
He accounted for 2,834 passing yards, 531 rushing yards, and 35 total touchdowns in 2023 — earning Most Valuable Player honors in the SEC Championship Game and being voted a permanent team captain. Milroe is a playmaker with his legs and possesses deep ball capabilities in the passing game, but he needs to improve on short to intermediate routes into the boundary.

A Pac-12 Network analyst believes DeBoer and Ryan Grubb will do wonders for Milroe.
Yogi Roth stated on The Next Round Show that DeBoer and Grubb will ‘take Milroe’s game to another level.’

“They will adjust it,” Roth said about DeBoer and Grubb having the offense fit Milroe.
“I will never proclaim to know every quarterback that Ryan Grubb or Kalen DeBoer has coached, but I would make a tremendous argument that one and two are probably Michael Penix Jr. and Jake Haener. Everybody else was probably not near the passer or dynamic player that either of those two were. They have had to adjust their whole careers. It is who they are, and it will not be a challenge by any stretch of the imagination. What I loved about Washington’s offense, and if I was only going to give one line to Jalen Milroe or the quarterback room, you are not going to play catch in the offense. You are going to play quarterback. You are going to have make reads and decisions, and those decisions and reads are going to be predicated on your skill set. That skill set will evolve and grow from the first day of spring practice until the final one, first day of training camp to the end of camp, and from game one to game 12. That will naturally happen. There will be a set of rules and foundational principles to the offense that Jalen Milroe will walk into. It will make him an incredible quarterback as he moves forward. He will be challenged, but he will never be in a position where his greatest asset, which is his confidence, is going to be impacted.”
Roth feels Milroe should take off under DeBoer and Grubb. It is going to be fun to see what happens.
