Former Alabama linebacker Ian Jackson announced on social media Thursday night that he will be transferring to UTSA this season. Jackson originally entered the transfer portal back on Jan. 4 following the Crimson Tide’s loss to Michigan in the College Football Playoff.

Jackson spent a total of three years at Alabama, redshirting his freshman year, and appeared in just four games while recording one tackle in a largely special teams role.
Alabama has been at odds with the transfer portal since its loss to Michigan and saw it take a turn for the worse when legendary head coach Nick Saban announced his retirement. The Crimson Tide has seen a total of 23 players enter the portal as new head coach Kalen DeBoer continues to keep the current core together while also introducing a new coaching staff.
