Alabama football has a coaching staff under Kalen DeBoer that is excited about getting to work and building on the excellent foundation Nick Saban laid during his 17 years at the University of Alabama.
Maurice Linguist, 39, is one of several new assistant coaches on DeBoer’s staff.

He joins as a co-defensive coordinator/cornerbacks coach.
Linguist, a native of Dallas, Texas, played safety at Baylor from 2003 to 2006 and coached defensive backs in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys in 2020. He returned to college in 2021 to become the head coach for the University of Buffalo from 2021 to 2023. Linguist has ties to the south, serving as a defensive backs coach and special teams coach at Valdosta (Ga.) State in 2008, coaching safeties at Mississippi State in 2016, and mentoring cornerbacks at Texas A&M from 2018 to 2019. He is very good on the recruiting trail and looks forward to showing Crimson Tide fans what he can provide.
Linguist shared his first ‘Roll Tide’ to the Alabama nation on social media.
Good morning. I’ll have a statement soon. But now that I have your attention, there is something important that I would like to say…Roll Tide! 🐘
