Former Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees may be taking his talents to the NFL.
According to a report from The Athletic’s Zac Jackson, Rees is working on an agreement to join Kevin Stefanski’s staff with the Cleveland Browns in an unspecified offensive role.
Sources: The Browns are working to hire Tommy Rees as tight ends coach, and he’ll have a role in the overall development of the pass game. His exact title is uncertain and the hire is not yet official.
Rees, 31, was Alabama offensive coordinator last season.

Rees spent one season as the offensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide and the unit had its fair share of struggles, particularly at the beginning of the season. The team dragged its feet on naming a starting quarterback for the first three games of the season until finally rolling with Jalen Milroe, which still proved to be a work in progress for the bulk of the middle of the year.
Accompanied with up and down offensive play, Alabama consistently would find itself trailing at the half throughout conference play.
But a dedication to diversifying the run game and utilizing Milroe’s ability to move and connect on the deep ball and Rees’ offense was able to scavenge a solid product by the end of the year which ultimately helped the Crimson Tide win the SEC.
The midseason efforts from Rees earned him a semifinalist nomination for the Broyles Award given to the top assistant in college football.
But with new head coach Kalen DeBoer taking over for Nick Saban, Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb is expected to join him in Tuscaloosa thus leading Rees to likely make the jump to the NFL.
