They are not participating in the Reese’s Senior Bowl, but two former University of Alabama defensive starters will compete in a rite of passage all-star game for the National Football League.

Trezmen Marshall and Jaylen Key are playing in the NFL’s East-West Shrine Bowl. The exhibition is Thursday at 7 pm CT via NFL Network. Marshall and Key both transferred to Alabama from different schools. Marshall came from the University of Georgia while Key arrived from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The two helped the Crimson Tide to a Southeastern Conference Championship and a College Football Playoff appearance. Marshall, a linebacker, totaled 56 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, a fumble recovery, and a quarterback hurry. Key, a safety, had 60 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, a breakup, and an interception. Key, a native Floridian, recently earned an invitation to compete in the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine.
