Travis Smith Jr. feels he definitely wants to get back to Tuscaloosa after putting Alabama football in his top eight.
Smith is a 2025 wide receiver, who is set to continue to see his recruiting ranking rise. He is currently considered a four-star recruit. The junior attends Westlake High School in Atlanta, Georgia, and Alabama is just one of the teams he is heavily considering.
Alabama made Smith’s top eight because of their consistent success in the past.
”Bama is Bama,” Smith said. “That’s definitely an offer I’ve been waiting on. I’m curious to see how this offense is because the OC ended up leaving for the Seahawks. So, it’s a lot to see.”
Smith visited Alabama for Junior Day, and he got an opportunity to start bonding with the Tide’s wide receiver coach JaMarcus Shephard.
“Coach Shephard and I sat for an hour after Junior Day and really got a chance to pick each other’s brain,” Smith told Touchdown Alabama. “He is very intelligent in terms of bringing the best out of his receivers and preparing them for the next level.”
The four-star is unsure when he will exactly return to Tuscaloosa
“I do not have a visit date set just yet, but the spring and when looking at official visits,” said Smith. “Those are the two times I will think about going there.”
Smith wants to be committed before his senior season.
“Definitely before my senior season, June or July,” Smith said. “So those official visits will have a great part in whether my decision goes where.”
The Georgia product is a bigger wide receiver at 6-foot-4 and approximately 200 pounds. His size and athleticism allow him to strive in jump-ball situations and when he is called upon to catch in traffic. He also runs his routes under control.
Smith finished his junior season with 43 receptions for 843 yards and 11 touchdowns.
