Kalen DeBoer has his offensive line coach and tight ends coach for Alabama football.
Ryan Fowler, host of The Game with Ryan Fowler on Tide 100.9 FM, was first to break the news on the University of Alabama expecting to hire Bryan Ellis as its new tight ends coach to replace Joe Cox. Ellis, 35, is a native of Macon, Ga.
Breaking: After talking with several key sources, I also expect that Alabama will hire Chris Kapilovic as the new offensive line coach. He is currently at Baylor.

He played quarterback at the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 2007 to 2011.

Ellis started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his Alma mater from 2012 to 2013. He then spent three years at Western Kentucky (2014-16) as an offensive quality control coach, running backs coach, wide receivers coach, and passing game coordinator. Ellis became an offensive analyst at the University of Southern California in 2016 and a quarterbacks coach in 2018.
He returned to Western Kentucky in 2019 and served three seasons (2019-21) as an offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, co-offensive coordinator, and inside wide receivers coach. Ellis was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Georgia Southern from 2022 to 2023. He’s worked at nearly every offensive position except for offensive line and tight ends.
Ellis is a bright offensive mind, so he looks to help DeBoer and the staff create an explosive scheme.
