Could Alabama have a defensive coaching staff that returns it to where it mentally defeated opponents?
Kevin Steele did a good job in one season (2023), but now he has retired. Kane Wommack takes over as the Crimson Tide’s defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. He brings a 4-2-5 swarm defense from South Alabama and Tide fans are intrigued to see how it works out. Kalen DeBoer has also brought in several coaches to help out on defense. Eron Hodges, an associate Director of Player Personnel for Alabama, is very excited to work with this defensive staff in Tuscaloosa. He shared via social media that Coach Mo (Maurice Linguist), Freddie Roach, and Wommack is ‘as good as a staff’ that’s he has seen in college football.
To coach Mo, to Freddie, Kane… this is as good as a staff that I’ve ever seen established in college football… blessed to here

Hodges wants to be with the Tide and looks forward to seeing how this group works together.

Alabama had several strong coaching staffs under Nick Saban, including the 2015 staff that had Lane Kiffin, Kirby Smart, Mel Tucker, Burton Burns, Bo Davis, Mario Cristobal, and Scott Cochran among others.
We will see how strong this unit is under DeBoer.
