Kalen DeBoer proved right in his introductory press conference about his team at Alabama will have a splash of Washington.
The new head coach for the Crimson Tide brought over Parker Brailsford (center), Germie Bernard (wide receiver), and Austin Mack (quarterback) from Washington. Noah Carter, a four-star edge rusher, committed to Washington under DeBoer but switched his commitment to Alabama and signed with the Tide after DeBoer made the decision to come to Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Now, a former tight end for the Huskies has chosen the Tide from the NCAA transfer portal.

Josh Cuevas, a native of Los Angeles, Calif., is reunited with DeBoer. Cuevas started his collegiate career at California Polytechnic State University, earning third-team All-Big Sky honors as a redshirt freshman in 2022. He finished second on the team with 57 catches for 622 yards receiving and six touchdowns. The 6-foot-3, 239-pounder excelled at Campbell Hall High School under Coach Dennis Keyes. Cuevas played all 15 games in 2023 for the Huskies, recording four receptions for 164 yards and a score.
He led the offense with 41 yards per catch.
Cuevas joins a tight end room with CJ Dippre, Robbie Ouzts, Danny Lewis Jr., Ty Lockwood, Caleb Odom, and Jay Lindsey. His experience should get him on the field with Dippre and Ouzts, but Lewis and Odom have a lot of talent in the passing game.
It will be intriguing to see how Cuevas fits into this offense, but he’s now at Alabama.
