Auburn 4-Star DL commit Malik Autry sees increased interest from Alabama

Auburn football’s defensive lineman commit, Malik Autry feels the new Alabama staff is interested in him.

Autry is trending upwards as one of the nation’s top interior defensive linemen. He is a great get for the Tigers at the moment, but other schools are not going to pull away from recruiting the impressive talent.

Alabama has not offered the Opelika High School product but there is mutual interest with an increase in interest as of late.

“I think it’s an increase,” Autry told Touchdown Alabama. “With this new staff, they told me if I was interested, they were interested. I think that that means a lot and hopefully I will get down there soon, so they can start building a relationship.

Alabama’s defensive coordinator Freddie Roach has a previous relationship with Autry. The junior feels the Tide keeping Riach in staff under Kalen De Boer will benefit the Tide on the recruiting front.

“I think Kalen DeBoer doing a good job of balancing the players he already got and the players that he’s trying to recruit. I think it’s good they kept Freddie Roach. I like him. He is a great coach, so they got a lot of knowledge and stuff. So, I think that’s going be good as far as them keeping Freddie Roach on staff because that’s gonna be huge for them as far as recruiting.”

Autry was dominant during his junior campaign at 6-foot-6 and 283 pounds. He made plays with his strength and power while also getting after ball carriers when asked to run.

Autry remains locked in with Auburn, but he is still getting recruited by Ole Miss, Miami, Florida and others.
