Alabama football’s first spring practice session under Kaleb DeBoer is approaching.
The staff at Touchdown Alabama Magazine will spotlight 30 players to watch over the spring with spring practice starting next week.
Up next is the true freshman cornerback, Jaylen Mbakwe.
Caleb Odom
Classification: Freshman
Hometown: Carrollton, GA
Position: Wide Receiver / Tight End
Size: 6-foot-5, 215 Pounds
2023 stats: N/A
Summary
Odom was considered one of the nation’s top tight-end prospects coming out of Carrollton High School, but signs point to him being a wide receiver for the Crimson Tide under Alabama’s new staff.
The Georgia product spent the majority of his high school career flexed out wide for the Trojans despite being listed as a tight end.
This should make Odom’s possible transition to wide receiver a smooth one as he was one of the best route-running tight ends in the 2024 recruiting class. He will be a mismatch for most defensive backs with his combination of size and athleticism. Odom can rise up and go get the football whenever it is near him with his wide catch radius. He is also productive after the catch.

The freshman made strides as a blocker during his last year of his high school football. The effort he puts there will only benefit his chances of playing early.
