Jalen Milroe is out to prove one thing in spring practice: He’s returning as the starting quarterback for Alabama football.
He produced success in 2023 as a first-year starter, compiling 2,834 passing yards and 35 total touchdowns.

The native Texan earned second-team All-Southeastern Conference honors and propelled the Crimson Tide to an SEC Championship. He endured struggles early in the campaign, but Milroe made exponential improvement as the season went on.

The former four-star in the 2021 signing class is battling Ty Simpson, Dylan Lonergan, and Austin Mack (transfer) to remain as the starter. Milroe is making a significant change to prepare him for spring practice. He has changed the form of his passing mechanics to have a better follow through and release of the football. Milroe shared a video to his Instagram of him working on his new throwing motion. His feet are set better, his arms come through the ball better, his shoulders and back are squared properly, and his hips are moving better for a sharper release. Milroe wants to prove he can be an explosive passer.
It appears that Nick Sheridan (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach) and Kalen DeBoer have gotten their message through in wanting Milroe to be at his best. The quarterback room is going to be an impressive competition once practice begins.
