Jermaine Burton put the perfect explanation point on his NFL Scouting Combine performance last week with a backflip in the end zone at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
The former Alabama wide receiver projected as a day two draft pick (second-round), but could he slide into the first round?

Burton, a California native, showcased his skills for personnel in the National Football League –testing very well and performing the gauntlet drill with ease. The 6-foot, 196-pounder displayed speed in the 40-yard dash with an official time of 4.45 seconds.

He recorded a 38.5″ vertical and a 11’1″ broad jump.
Xavier Worthy of Texas grabbed everyone’s attention in becoming the fastest player in NFL Combine history, 4.21-40 time, but Burton did more than hold his own at his position group.
The team that selects him is getting a savvy route runner that is very competitive.
He improved his catching from 2022 to 2023, building a relationship with Jalen Milroe at quarterback. Burton pushed the Crimson Tide to a Southeastern Conference Championship where it dethroned a two-time defending College Football Playoff National Champion in Georgia. He assisted the Tide back to the CFP after missed out on the playoff in the 2022 season.
Burton caught 39 passes last season for 798 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
