Atkinson attends Grayson High School in Georgia, and he garners a four-star rating from most recruiting sites at the moment. He is firmly in the conversation to earn a consensus five-star rating in the future. The Georgia product has Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, North Carolina, Ohio State, Tennessee and Texas and his top ten.
Touchdown Alabama caught up with Atkinson in February, and he shared he was looking forward to meeting the new Alabama staff.
“They have a legacy over there,” Atkinson said. “The head coach (Kalen DeBoer) up there, he got some big shoes to fill, but I think they’ll get it done. I’m excited to go up there and meet the new staff.”
The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder physically looks the part of a future high-level college football linebacker. He moves well in space when playing off-the-ball at linebacker, but he can make plays when playing off the edge. He has impressive speed and can close on the football fast.
“I am a sideline to sideline player,” said Atkinson. “I can rush the quarterback, stop the run. I can do a little of everything, so that makes me special.”
