After one season in Cincinnati, Irv Smith is headed to a Super Bowl contender. The former Crimson Tide tight end has reached an agreement on a one-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news Tuesday as the league’s new year is on Wednesday. Smith caught 18 passes (26 targets) for 115 receiving yards and a touchdown for the Bengals in 2023.

He had nine career touchdowns in four seasons (2019-22) with the Minnesota Vikings, including a career-high five touchdown catches and 365 yards receiving in 2020. The 6-foot-2, 242-pounder was a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Smith came to the Crimson Tide as a four-star from New Orleans (La.) in its 2016 signing class.
