Alabama QB Jalen Milroe training with former NFL quarterback to better his mechanics for 2024 season

John David Mercer - USA Today Sports

He is committed to the University of Alabama, but he’s also committed to transforming himself into a first-round draft value.

Jalen Milroe, a junior quarterback for the Crimson Tide, returns as an experience playmaker in the Southeastern Conference.

He started 12 of 13 games in 2023, only missing Alabama’s week three matchup against South Florida. Milroe was benched for Tyler Buchner in that contest, but he learned from the lesson.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder made consistent improvement each week, leading the Tide to an SEC Championship. He earned Most Valuable Player honors in the title matchup versus Georgia in pushing Alabama to a 27-24 victory over the Bulldogs at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Alabama did not make it to the College Football Playoff during Bryce Young’s final year in 2022, but it returned to the stage with Milroe.

The native Texan compiled 2,834 passing yards, 35 total touchdowns, and six interceptions.

He became a permanent team captain, but he knows there is more work to do.

Milroe has a new head coach, Kalen DeBoer, and a new offensive coordinator, Nick Sheridan.

He is in a new offense and expectations to be accurate, precise, and have timing will be demanded of him.

Milroe eyes a chance to win a national championship, but he also desires to be a professional quarterback. The former four-star prospect has been training with Jordan Palmer, a former National Football League quarterback, to improve his mechanics.

Palmer, the younger brother of former NFL quarterback Carson Palmer, is now a quarterback coach and founder of QB Summit.

He’s tutored marquee quarterbacks in the league, including Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow. Palmer also had his hands on Deshaun Watson, Kyle Allen, Sam Darnold, and Bo Nix. Palmer was a sixth-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft from UTEP (University of Texas at El Paso) by the Washington Redskins.

A few photos reached social media of Milroe working with Palmer. It will be interesting to see how much of the training has paid off for Milroe when he takes the field for the A-Day Game.

Alabama fans are prepared to see a lethal quarterback in the fall.
