Alabama’s snapping issues from last season were a hot topic once again this week as Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, who is now the coach of former Crimson Tide center Seth McLaughlin, shifted the issues more toward Jalen Milroe’s cadence.
“Seth’s snaps have been great,” Day said on Tuesday. “I know that was a little bit of a concern. I think that had a lot to do with maybe the cadence or whatever. But so far, he’s been doing great.”
McLaughlin struggled with snaps throughout 2023 resulting in various levels of poor to disastrous plays for Alabama.
But now that McLaughlin has transferred to the Buckeyes, had Milroe and the offense continued to have such issues under new head coach Kalen DeBoer?
The answer, for at least right now, is no.
“I guess I only can really go off of what we’ve done right now, and we haven’t had any problems there,” DeBoer said. “We use our cadence and it’s the clap cadence. Jalen, all the quarterbacks have done a good job. I think, from what I see, we haven’t really had any problems at all.”
DeBoer shared earlier this week that Milroe has been taking all of the first team reps for Alabama this spring as the team works toward A-Day on April 13.
