Alabama’s QB room stood out in Crimson Tide’s spring scrimmage, per Kalen DeBoer

Alabama football has an awesome quarterback room.

Kalen DeBoer, the Crimson Tide’s head coach, spoke to reporters Thursday after the first scrimmage of spring practice inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. Alabama’s eighth practice had the quarterbacks as the headliner. DeBoer said all four players excelled and no one turned the ball over. The Tide is still looking to improve its pass-blocking on the offensive line, but the quarterbacks were able to quickly dissect plays and get the ball to the receivers. In a scrimmage that lasted 85-90 plays, DeBoer said he saw several touchdowns from the quarterbacks. He told reporters each signal-caller played within the system and made plays.

Jalen Milroe, a redshirt junior, has been ‘super consistent’ per DeBoer.

“He’s done a good job of just playing ball,” DeBoer said of Milroe. “He has that dual skill set of being able to run and throw, and now that we have enough things where he can utilize that, you can see the play-calling working around what he brings to the table. He is tough to handle. He is extremely fast. He is getting more and more comfortable with the offense, especially with the passing game. He has options to make plays with his feet, and he’s done it at the right time. He is getting more comfortable just playing the game. He’s finding ways to move the chains and converting when he needs to convert. I am really proud of the way he has come along.”

DeBoer said the quarterbacks in general did a really good.

“They really made some throw,” he said about Alabama’s quarterback room.

“They stayed with plays, checked protections, and just felt comfortable back there. They did not try to do too much. They did not turn the ball over once, which I think is a really good sign. When they had a chance to make throws, they put it in a spot where the offensive player could compete for it. They threw some nice touchdown passes in there too.”

DeBoer and Nick Sheridan have an offense that can be really fun for the Crimson Tide.

Milroe continues to hold serve as QB1, but it looks the room as a whole is dangerous.
