Kane Wommack has a young defensive secondary to work with at the University of Alabama, but does the talented defensive coordinator have the best safety tandem in college football for next season?

Malachi Moore is the unquestioned leader on defense in spring practice.

The senior moved to strong safety and has been excellent in practice. He has played a lot of football, capturing three Southeastern Conference Championship rings (2020-21, 2023) and a College Football Playoff National Championship ring in 2020.

Moore wants another national title and to increase his value for next year’s NFL Draft.

The Trussville (Ala.) native is proven, but will he have a partner in the secondary to help him?

A national media outlet is high on Keon Sabb, a transfer from Michigan, as a safety for the Crimson Tide.

Sabb, a New Jersey native, comes over after helping the Wolverines to a national title.

Pro Football Focus, a site that dives into the analytics of college football and NFL Draft analysis, has Sabb as one of the top 10 safeties returning to college football. Sabb wears No. 3 in practice, a number previously worn by Terrion Arnold.

Arnold is headed to the NFL Draft as a projected first-rounder.

The 6-foot-1, 208-pounder totaled 28 tackles, five pass breakups, two interceptions, and an interception returned for a touchdown in 2023 for Michigan. Alabama fans will see how good of a defender Sabb can be in the coming fall.
