Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer carried a smile at the podium after Saturday’s second scrimmage.
He was pleased with the improvements made by the Crimson Tide at Bryant-Denny Stadium, especially the offensive line in pass protection. Coach DeBoer noticed a consistent pass rush in the first scrimmage, but the offensive front was able to keep the quarterbacks clean this time.
Wilkin Formby, a four-star in the 2023 class from Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa, Ala., arrived as one of the best, technically sound tackles in the class. The 6-foot-7, 320-pounder played in three games for the Tide’s Southeastern Conference Championship team last season.
Formby, a redshirt freshman, had been rotating with Miles McVay, another member of the 2023 signing class, at right tackle in spring practice.
