Robert Gillespie is in his fourth season as Alabama’s running backs coach, and he’s only getting better.
He earned a promotion from Kalen DeBoer as one of two holdovers from the Nick Saban era.

Gillespie is now an assistant head coach and is ready to make the Crimson Tide more explosive on offense.
The 44-year-old was a former running back at the University of Florida from 1998 to 2001.
He has been on two SEC Championship teams (2021, 2023) while positioning names such as Brian Robinson Jr., Jahmyr Gibbs, and Jase McClellan to the NFL Draft. Now, he has Justice Haynes, Jam Miller, Richard Young, Daniel Hill, and Kevin Riley to coach. Gillespie was mic’d up last week in spring practice, and Alabama football allowed fans to see it in action via social media.
