Alabama football’s wide receiver, Kobe Prentice sat down with Roger Hoover of the Crimson Tide Sports Network to discuss several topics, including the meeting when Nick Saban told his players he was retiring.
Hoover asked Prentice about the reactions he had seen from Tide players the moment Saban shared the news.
“You could hear a pin drop in there,” Prentice answered. “Everybody looked sick. I looked sick. It was wild. It was definitely a moment to remember. When he said it, it was like no way. I couldn’t believe it, but I knew he was not going to be able to coach forever. It is crazy he even still coached us, give the age he was It was respect though. He did given a lot to Alabama. I feel like he gave it all he had and did it to the best ability he could do it.”
The Alabama native also shared his immediate thoughts after the announcement.
“Immediately, I am thinking in my head, I am not going anywhere,” said Prentice. “I am honored to be able to play for you, but its Roll Tide.”
