The Philadelphia Eagles have awarded a few contract extensions this offseason, but is a former Alabama standout next?
Landon Dickerson, a University of Alabama alumnus, was made the highest-paid offensive guard in the National Football League.

He was the starting center on the Crimson Tide’s 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship team that also had the Heisman Memorial Trophy winner, DeVonta Smith, at wide receiver. Smith, a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has developed into a star receiver for the Eagles. The playmaker, dubbed “Skinny Batman,” has back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons receiving in three years. Smith tied his career mark for touchdown catches (seven) in 2023 and had 1,066 yards on 81 catches.
The former two-time national champion could be looking at a massive extension from the Eagles. According to Tim McManus, who covers the Eagles for ESPN, Philadelphia’s front office may have the next big contract for the 25-year-old from Louisiana.
McManus reports that Howie Roseman, the Eagles’ general manager, views Smith as a player the Eagles ‘don’t want to see leave.’
Philadelphia is working on a deal that could pay Smith $25 million a year.
This would put him in the range of names such as Tyreek Hill (Miami Dolphins, $30 million), Davante Adams (Las Vegas Raiders, $28 million), Cooper Kupp (Los Angeles Rams, $26.7 million), and his teammate, A.J. Brown ($25 million).
Smith and Brown are one of the best wide receiver tandems in the NFL.
Hopefully, the Eagles are able to work out the long-term deal with Smith.
