Former NFL head coach Mike Smith recently discussed why he is high on Alabama cornerback, Terrion Arnold, ahead of the draft.
Smith coached in the NFL for almost 20 years, including stints with the Baltimore Ravens, Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was the head coach of the Falcons from 2008 to 2014. The former Falcons’ head coach recently told Betway Insider Arnold’s versatility as a defensive back makes him a special NFL prospect.
“The other corner I really like is Terrion Arnold from Alabama, who’ll be another starting cornerback,” Smith said. “He has the flexibility of playing corner or nickel which is important because you don’t want a guy who you can’t move inside and play nickel. When they can do that, it gives the defensive coordinators a lot more leeway in what they can do in terms of eliminating the elite athletic wide receivers. He’ll be another starting corner in the NFL. He’s got great speed and explosiveness to match any of the athletic NFL wide receivers. He’s good.”
Arnold is looking to hear his name called early during the upcoming draft as he is projected to be a first-round pick.
