Nick Saban grabbed him from Maryland via St. Frances Academy in the 2020 signing class as a five-star, but now Chris Braswell is officially in the National Football League.
He came off the board in the second round on Friday in the NFL Draft to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Braswell developed into an explosive outside linebacker under Saban, playing behind Christopher Allen, Will Anderson, and Dallas Turner. He blossomed into a star last season for Alabama — posting 10.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, five quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles, a pass breakup, a blocked field goal, and an interception returned for a touchdown. Braswell had a marquee production that led to him helping the Tide to a Southeastern Conference Championship and a berth in the College Football Playoff. He performed well at the Reese’s Senior Bowl and did more than hold his own at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Tampa Bay gains a star in Braswell at No. 57 overall and is excited to see what he can provide.
