Alabama football offered one of the nation’s top 2026 edge prospects in Zion Elee on last week.
Elee is a four-star recruit, who is a sophomore at Joppatowne High School in Maryland. Most recruiting sites have him rated as the No. 1 or No. 2 edge prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. His offer from the Crimson Tide is one he cherishes.
“It means a lot one of the best schools in the country wants me,” Elee said. “Based on what I know, I am sure they are a really hard-working team, and they take care of all their players.”
The Maryland product has previous offers from Georgia, Florida State, Tennessee and others. Elee’s impressive offer list is a direct result of what he has shown on the field early in his high school football career.
The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder possesses prototypical size and length for a future edge defender. He flashes a quick get-off at the line of scrimmage and impressive backside pursuit when he is getting after ball carries. He also shows an ability to use his length to his advantage in a variety of ways, including to keep offensive linemen out of his chest and to tip balls once quarterbacks release a pass.
“My speed, the way I bend the edge, my ball knowledge and my ability to use my moves are my strengths,” Ella said.
