Kalen DeBoer gets the University of Alabama help in its defensive secondary for the coming fall.
Alabama football got a yes from DaShawn Jones, a former Wake Forest cornerback, out of the NCAA transfer portal.

The news came Wednesday as the Crimson Tide added a veteran defensive back. The Baltimore (Md.) native enjoyed his visit to Tuscaloosa (Ala.) and joins the Tide after three years in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Jones, a redshirt junior, played in 23 career games after redshirting his freshman season in 2021. He posted 37 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, two pass breakups, and three interceptions last year. Jone collected 60 tackles in two seasons playing cornerback for the Demon Deacons.
He had seven breakups and three picks for his career in the ACC. The 6-foot, 181-pounder showed his ability to cover wide receivers, break up passes, and create turnovers. Alabama has a lot of youth in its secondary, so adding Jones was marquee.
Tide fans are thrilled to have another defensive back that can be a ball hawk.
