The fans showed their excitement, but now student-athletes for Alabama football are pumped about their new teammate.
DaShawn Jones, a former cornerback for Wake Forest, committed to the Crimson Tide on Wednesday out the NCAA transfer portal. Jones, a Baltimore (Md.) native, had 60 total tackles, seven pass breakups, and three interceptions in three seasons for the Demon Deacons. He redshirted his freshman campaign in 2021, giving him two years to have the production he gained.

The 6-foot, 181-pounder gives the Tide experience at a much needed position. Jahlil Hurley is the lone scholarship cornerback Alabama has from its 2023 signing class. Kalen DeBoer also saw two names from the 2024 class, Jameer Grimsely and Peyton Woodyard, leave the Tide for the portal as well. Jones has a chance to be very impactful in Kane Wommack’s 4-2-5 Swarm Defense. A few Alabama players reacted on Instagram to the news of Jones becoming their new teammate in Tuscaloosa.
