Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer double dipped into the NCAA transfer portal for the Crimson Tide’s secondary.

He pulled out an experienced cornerback from an Atlantic Coast Conference school and a young safety from a Big Ten program.

DaShawn Jones (Wake Forest) and King Mack (Penn State) enter a talented defensive backfield for Alabama, but both are prepared to be impactful. Mack, a Miami (Fla.) native, is an alumnus of St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder was a three-time state champion (2020-22) in football and a state champion in track in the 100 meters, 400 meters, 4×100 meter relay, and 4×400 meter relay.

Mack played in all 13 games for the Nittany Lions in 2023 as freshman, primarily on special teams.

He posted three tackles and a quarterback hurry. Mack has the potential to be a good safety for the Tide as he has three years of eligibility left.

Alabama fans reacted with excitement on X to get more help for its secondary.
