Malachi Moore and Brian Branch came in the same recruiting class to Alabama football at the same position.
Both arrived in 2020 as four stars and contributed to a Southeastern Conference Championship and a College Football Playoff National Championship.
Moore exploded onto the scene as a freshman — totaling 44 tackles, four tackles for loss, six pass breakups, three interceptions, and a fumble returned for a touchdown. Branch had seven breakups and two interceptions.

Branch would become the bigger star as Moore encountered injuries, but the native Georgian knows the Crimson Tide’s permanent team captain from the 2023 season has first-round potential. He cannot wait to see how Moore performs in the fall as the unquestioned leader of Alabama’s defense. Branch commented on a social media post on whether the duo of Moore and Keon Sabb is the best safety tandem in college football. He responded in way that showed all confidence in his former Tide teammate.

Branch expects big things from Moore just as Tide fans and NFL pundits do.
He looks to not only create high value for himself, but also deliver Alabama to a national title.
