Alabama football appears to have hit the jackpot by landing a commitment from Lotzier Brooks on last month.
Brooks, who is a 2025 wide receiver out of Millville High School in New Jersey, currently garners a four-star rating from multiple recruiting sites. His rating and ranking are expected to continue to rise with more eyes on him as an Alabama commit.
Brooks’ dynamic play on the field has the Alabama faithful hype for his future in Tuscaloosa, but he is someone, who would rather stay away from the hype.
Millville High School head football coach Humberto Ayala describes Brooks as a reserved kid, who loves to play football and video games.
“He is quiet, a good teammate, does everything that’s asked, coachable,” Ayala said.
While Brooks’ personality off the football field might not bring attention to him, his play on the field definitely does.
“He’s a playmaker, and you could put the ball in his hands, and he is going to make things happen,” Ayala told Touchdown Alabama. “Obviously, you have to get creative because he draws a lot of attention. You can’t leave him just in one spot. You got to move him, you got to motion him. You got to be smart about what you do because teams are going to bracket him. They’re gonna invert coverage. Once we get him the ball, his stop-and-go and his elusiveness is so dynamic that he makes himself very hard to catch in small areas. He’s just a dynamic football player.”
The 2025 recruit’s ability to be dangerous on the offensive side of the football led him to catch 61 passes for 1,295 yards and 22 touchdowns during the 2023 football season.
Brooks’ speed is what has a lot of people talking about the New Jersey product. His speed is game-changing with him reportedly clocking in at 22.1 miles per hour on a run last season. According to Ayala, speed is not the only reason Brooks is a legitimate prospect.
“He is tough too,” Ayala said. “He is strong as heck in the weight room. People don’t realize how strong this kid actually is for his size. A shoestring tackle ain’t taking him down.”The plan is get him the ball in open space and let him go. He’s a go up and get it kid too. His vertical is ridiculous. The kid jumps out the gym, he can dunk a basketball, he can play above the rim. His vertical is just insane. He is just dynamic across the board.”
Alabama will look to hold on to the Millville product, who is expected to keep running by defenders.
