Keelon Russell will not take any more official visits after committing to the Alabama Crimson Tide, per his dad Brian Russell.
Russell is the first signal caller to commit to Alabama under Kalen DeBoer. His commitment gives the Tide 11 2025 commits in the early part of a possibly big summer for DeBoer and company. Several people across the country are high on Russell’s potential including his trainer, Brad Stanfield, who has worked with several top signal callers.
“I think he can be as good or better than any throwing quarterback Alabama has ever had,” Stanfield told Touchdown Alabama.
Alabama was able to pull Russell from SMU and a variety of factors went into the four-star’s decision.
“This was the first official visit where they had academic advisors,” Brian Russell said. “Keelon wants to major in real estate and interior design. There was a professor there telling us how he was going to be able to graduate in three years and be able to get a Master’s in four. So, them already having academic advisors there to help him with his life after football left a major impression on us. They also have a major mentality for NFL preparation. They’re going to prepare him to be on time, they are going to prepare him to have a strong mindset. They are going to prepare him for the NFL mindset. So those are some of the things that we took away even after football.”
Russell plans to enroll at Alabama as an early enrollee.
