He is one of the best quarterbacks returning to college football, but can Jalen Milroe become the top signal-caller for the 2025 NFL Draft?
The Alabama quarterback started his first season in the Southeastern Conference in 2023.
Milroe had good and bad moments; however, he delivered his team to an SEC Championship.
He guided the Crimson Tide to the College Football Playoff, finishing his sophomore campaign with 2,834 passing yards and 35 total touchdowns.
Milroe was recognized as a permanent team captain by his peers, but his sights are set on more in the fall. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder has a chance to lead the Tide to a conference title, a CFP National Championship, and win several individual awards. He could also be the first quarterback selected in next year’s draft. Milroe has to make tremendous strides in the passing game under Kalen DeBoer, but he is capable of doing it.

The native Texan had nine games last year where he had 2+ touchdown passes.
If he improves his touch and accuracy on short to intermediate routes into the boundary, then Milroe will be a complete quarterback. Pro Football Focus, a website that dives into the analytics of college and professional football, has Milroe as one of its top 10 quarterbacks for the 2025 draft. Three SEC quarterbacks — Conner Weigman (Texas A&M), Carson Beck (Georgia), and Graham Mertz (Florida) — are ahead of Milroe on PFF’s list. Shedeur Sanders (Colorado) and Jalen Daniels (Kansas) are also in front of Milroe. The redshirt junior has worked hard this offseason to have everything right with his passing mechanics.

He compete at the Manning Passing Academy later this month.
Milroe can rise above his contemporaries to be the top quarterback in the draft, but we will see how he does.
