Jalen Milroe is expected to be Alabama’s starting quarterback, but Ty Simpson is more than capable of running the offense.
The former five-star enters his third year in the program. Simpson, a native of Martin, Tenn., trained with Quarterback Country in Nashville (Tenn.) Friday. The group shared a video on X with Simpson dropping dimes all over the field.

He hit on each ball, showcasing accuracy touch, footwork, and arm strength. Simpson also displayed his ability to move around and extend plays. He performed well in spring practice, including the A-Day matchup at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Simpson had the best day — stats wise — among the quarterbacks.
He completed 11 of 20 passes in 2023 for 179 yards in six games. Simpson replaced Tyler Buchner in the second half of Alabama’s meeting with South Florida, leading two 80-yard touchdown drives. The Tide finished with a 17-3 victory over the Bulls.
Simpson wants to help Kalen DeBoer win a national championship at Alabama. He will get his opportunity in the fall.
