Greg McElroy feels Alabama football potentially has a fierce quarterback battle brewing with the addition of Keelon Russell.
Russell is a product of Duncanville High School in Texas, and he is a consensus four-star. He is the Crimson Tide’s only 2025 quarterback pledge.
McElroy, who won a National Championship as the starting quarterback for Alabama in 2010, feels it is going to be fascinating to watch how things play out in Tuscaloosa over the next year or so.
“I think what’s kind of interesting is you look at the depth chart for Alabama moving forward, Now, Jalen Milroe, let’s just say he has a great year, decides to go to the NFL,” McElroy said on a recent episode of “Always College Football.” “Next year’s quarterback competition is going to be fierce between Ty Simpson, Dylan Lonergan, the transfer from Washington in Austin Mack, and now you can add in Keelon Russell, a guy that was hand-picked by this staff. It’s going to be fascinating to watch.”
Russell plans to sign with Alabama in December and enroll in January.
