Former Alabama OL helps Birmingham Stallions win UFL championship

Former Alabama offensive guard, Deonte Brown returned to the winners’ podium Sunday, helping the Birmingham Stallions win the UFL Championship.

Brown is no stranger to this stage. He helped Alabama win a National Championship in 2020.

The Alabama native was in the Stallions starting lineup coming into this UFL season before he sustained an ankle injury, which sidelined him for much of the season. Brown returned for the Stallions in a reserve role last week in UFL playoff semifinals victory which propelled them to Sunday’s championship game. He was asked about his injury prior to the championship game.

“Just happy to be back with the boys playing football,” Brown said. “Knew what I was trying to accomplish being here, so I knew I was going to be back at some time, I just didn’t know when. But I knew for sure I was going to make it back around.”

Brown said he stayed connected to the team even while recovering from his injury. He was able to get meaningful reps in a reserve role after Birmingham took full possession of the game early on, ultimately winning the UFL championship game 25-0.
