Kalen DeBoer is a really good college football coach, but does he have the winning instincts of the greatest golfer of his generation?
A national media pundit has started a conversation that compares DeBoer to Tiger Woods. Joel Klatt of Fox Sports made the comparison on the Next Round Show via WJOX 94.5 FM in Birmingham, Ala. Klatt said Woods was technically proficient during his run of dominance in the sport of golf and was a proficient winner.
Woods won 15 major championships at his peak, including five Masters Tournaments, four PGA Championships, three U.S. Open titles, and three titles at The Open Championship.

“What I like about Kalen is he’s got a little Tiger Woods in him,” Klatt said.
“I’m not trying to say he’s the greatest of all time, but Tiger used to talk about ‘I need to be technically proficient at my craft, but I also need to learn how to be great at winning.’ This is why we see he was great at winning. We see a lot of these protege golfers and they go there and never win, but they look beautiful swinging the golf club. They are technically proficient, but not competitively proficient. Kalen DeBoer is competitively proficient. This guys wins at an insanely high level everywhere he has been, and for that reason I’m bullish. I think that it will work. I think it will just look a little different. I am happy for him that he’s recruited at such a high level here and gotten on that swing. The fact he is succeeding in the recruiting trail is a big feather in his cap.”
Klatt is looking forward to seeing what this Alabama team does, but he believes DeBoer is a really good coach.
