Josh Jacobs is tired of losing in the National Football League.
He made it clear in an interview Thursday when he joined former NFL defensive end, Chris Long, on his football podcast “Greenlight”.
The former Alabama tailback was drafted by the Raiders with the 24th overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft. Jacobs spent the first five seasons of his career with the franchise, and the Raiders only managed to have one winning season, making the playoffs just once over those five years.
Jacobs left Las Vegas and went on to sign with the Green Bay Packers in free agency in hopes of joining a winning team.
The former Alabama back discussed why coming from Alabama made it difficult to deal with losing early in the NFL.
“Coming from Alabama, I went to a championship every year I was there,” Jacobs said. “I remember coming to the league and losing my first game, and I was mad and not talking to nobody. A vet came up to me and was like, ‘This is the NFL. You’re going to lose.’ I’m like, ‘So ya’ll cool with losing?’ It was so different.”
Jacobs also put further light on what led to his fresh start in Green Bay and what were the biggest factors that made him walk away from Las Vegas.
“Then, the most frustrating thing about it all,” said Jacobs. “You’ve got me, and Tae (Davante Adams) and Maxx (Crosby), you’ve got guys who come in every day and work hard, and you don’t get the results. … You’ll be close every year, but (we’re) not winning. You want me to come back on a discount and lose? I don’t know how I feel about that.”
Jacobs signed with Green Bay for $48 million over 4 years in March.
