Ole Miss quarterback says Jalen Milroe ‘will be a baller’ for Alabama this season

John David Mercer - USA Today Sports

He does not have to play against Alabama in the fall, but he knows how good Jalen Milroe will be.

Jaxson Dart, a senior quarterback at the University of Mississippi, was in the same recruiting cycle as Milroe. The Utah native and former four-star started his playing career at the University of Southern California (USC) in 2021 before transferring to Ole Miss.

Dart had a very good season for the Rebels in 2023 — posting 3,364 passing yards, 23 touchdown passes, eight rushing touchdowns, and five interceptions. He led Ole Miss to its second 10-win season under Lane Kiffin, achieving an 11-2 record.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder spent time with Milroe at the Manning Passing Academy and had high praise for him.

“He is a monster,” Dart said about Milroe on Monday at SEC Media Days. “He is definitely a guy who passes the eye test from a physical ability approach, but he’s also a very genuine dude. He has been a stud and he is gonna be a baller for Alabama this year for sure.”

Dart recognizes the greatness in Milroe.

He collected 2,834 passing yards and 35 total touchdowns as a first-year starter for Alabama in 2023. Milroe paced the Crimson Tide to a Southeastern Conference Championship and a College Football Playoff berth. He eyes a national title shot this fall.
