How Vikings will honor Khyree Jackson during the season

The Minnesota Vikings finalized a series of gestures Monday to properly commemorate and honor the legacy of their fourth-round draft selection, Kyhree Jackson.

Jackson tragically passed away along with two of his former high school teammates in a fatal three-car motor vehicle accident earlier this month on July 6 in his home state of Maryland.

The Vikings social media announced that their players will wear helmet decals with Jackson’s initials while the coaches and staff will wear “KJ” pins honoring the fallen young man throughout their upcoming 2024 NFL season. The franchise also will apply honorary stencils to their practice fields and will avoid assigning any player the number #31 and locker previously used and by Jackson.

The Vikings organization made a generous $20,000 contribution to help cover funeral expenses and paid Jackson’s full $827,000 rookie signing bonus to his estate.

Team organization officials, General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, special teams coordinator Matt Daniels, defensive backs coach Daronte Jones, and Head Coach Kevin O’Connell will also all attend Jackson’s funeral in his hometown of Prince George County, Maryland to pay their respects on Friday.
