Major recruiting storylines to follow for Alabama summer cookout

Alabama football is set to host an impressive list of recruits this weekend including some interesting 2025 recruits.

Here is a look at some major storylines to watch:

4-Star RB Akylin Dear Commitment Watch

Dear remains on commitment watch ahead of a possible summer decision and another visit to Alabama after officially visiting the Crimson Tide in June. After de-committing from Ole Miss, the Tide are now the projected favorite to land Dear.

Late Push For 4-Star DB Anquon Fegans?

Anquon Fegans is expected to be in Tuscaloosa which is a bit of a surprise with him set to announce a commitment decision next week and the Tide are not one of his finalists. He has gone on record and said Alabama was still recruiting and has gone as far as to say they will get an official visit from him in the past. Alabama could be planting the seeds to continue to recruit Fegans no matter where he may commit in the near future.

Opportunity To Make Major Moves For Top In-State 2026 recruits

Alabama will host several of the state’s top 2026 prospects. The Crimson Tide look to be in a solid position with all of them as Anthony Jones, Zyan Gibson, Cederian Morgan, Vodney Cleveland. You can put Xavier Griffin in this conversation as he grew up in Alabama, but the four-star currently lives in Georgia. There will be several other top 2026 prospects of note in attendance, including Jackson Cantwell, Brandon Arrington and Blaine Bradford.
