Alabama’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack mentioned a freshman linebacker Wednesday when discussing some of the strengths of the Tide’s linebacker room.
“I’ve been very impressed with Justin Okoronkwo,” Wommack said. “I’ve been really impressed with some of the things he’s been doing.”
Okoronkwo is a native of Germany and is a former three-star recruit. He is coming off a strong performance in Alabama’s A-Day game.
The Germany native led both teams in tackles in the Tide’s spring game with 11 total tackles. He also managed to have one tackle for loss.
There looks to be no pressure on Okoronkwo to contribute in year one with multiple veteran linebackers expected start in front of him. However, it has been impressive to see the Germany product make what appears to be a smooth transition to playing football in America.
