Jeremiah Alexander is starting to turn a corner for Alabama football in year three with the Crimson Tide as a redshirt sophomore.
Alexander is a former five-star and a product of Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama.
The in-state recruit started his career as an outside linebacker, but the potential to switch to inside linebacker was always a possibility for Alexander. He split time rushing as an off-the-ball linebacker and playing inside linebacker for the Warriors during his high school career. He has officially made the transition to inside linebacker, and the Tide’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack feels he is headed in the right direction in his development.
“I think Jeremiah Alexander is starting to take steps forward in the right direction,” Wommack said. “He has played the Jack position in the last couple years and making that transition to inside linebacker, those are two different worlds. You can’t just sit there and say, well I’m gonna move this guy from here to here. You gotta rep that.”
Alexander played in 14 games last season and recorded three tackles while mostly contributing on special teams and seeing very limited snaps as a linebacker.
Alabama’s inside linebacker room is lead by Deontae Lawson and Jihaad Campbell as they are the two projected starters. Alexander will have an opportunity to provide depth at linebacker for Alabama.
