Alabama football’s freshman defensive back, Red Morgan has taken a ‘huge step’ over the summer after an impressive spring with the Crimson Tide.
Morgan is a former four-star defensive back and a product of Central Phenix City High School in Alabama.
The in-state recruit received a lot of praise from coaches and players in the spring, and the momentum he built then is carrying over to the season.
”Red is just Bama through and through,” Alabama DB coach Colin Hitschler said. “He gets it. He works his butt off. He loves the game of football. He’s a great man cover guy. Somehow, he just seems to find the ball every day, and it’s fun to coach a kid with good instincts.”
Alabama’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack feels Morgan has grown a lot since the spring.
“Red Morgan has really impressed me,” said Wommack. “It’s always fun to watch freshmen from where they were in the spring to where they’re headed and that jump that they make through the summertime. I think he has probably made a huge jump in that regard.”

Morgan will play the Husky safety position within Alabama’s defense. He and DeVonta Smith are among the players competing for the starting position.
